Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a unit clerk for the 7 Schiedt Hematology/Oncology unit at Pennsylvania Hospital. You will support clerical operations, manage health information records, and act as a liaison between patients, families, and the care team.

Under supervision of the nurse manager, you will handle reception tasks, ensure accurate data entry in patient systems, and uphold the Relationship Based Care model while contributing to high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in healthcare reception preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provide receptionist support: answer calls, greet visitors, and route requests to nursing staff.
• Input patient information into health information systems and manage records.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient information at all times.
• Coordinate patient admission, transfer, and discharge per unit procedures.
• Notify nurses of urgent requests and relay pertinent information to care teams.
• Support unit operations and liaise with ancillary and support services.
