General Summary

Under the supervision of nursing staff, provides direct patient care including vital signs, dressing checks, assistance with daily activities, blood draws, and specimen collection. Observes patient status, communicates needs, and collaborates as part of the interdisciplinary team.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

• Performs testing and manages patient care based on clinical findings.
• Records activities of daily living and vital signs.
• Assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Supports cost-effective strategies to improve outcomes.
• Promotes safety and maintains a clean, organized environment.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to implement care plans and report changes.
• Ensures patient comfort and documents dietary and output data.
• Performs urinary catheter care, blood glucose monitoring, wound care, and specimen collection.
• Provides orthopedic device care and participates in hourly rounding.
• Responds to alarms and reports safety concerns.
• Adheres to safety protocols and reports adverse events.
• Uses proper body mechanics and improves patient flow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
• No experience necessary; prior patient care experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
