Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore is seeking a Patient Care Technician. Under the supervision of a nurse, you perform routine patient care tasks of a technical nature as competency documentation designates.

Responsibilities include assisting with changing/dressing, transporting patients by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair, noting abnormal vital signs, reporting findings to nursing staff, orienting patients and families, and obtaining vital signs.

Qualifications

• CNA certification required.
• BLS certification provided by AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
• One year of clinical experience required or completion of the intern program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the patient with changing/dressing
• Transports the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair
• Identifies abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, including abnormal vital signs, Accucheck results, lab, EKG, and CXR results
• Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff
• Escorts patients to holding rooms
• Assists with patient changing, and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, contact lenses, etc.
• Verifies patient information
• Orients patients and families to the environment
• Obtains vital signs
