Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to assist in the individualized care of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. This part-time position may involve 12-hour shifts and flexibility across days, with opportunities for UAP career ladder progression.

Qualifications

Experience: None required; 175-hour training program for PCA position within 90 days of hire to meet state guidelines.
Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or prior patient care experience (PCA, CNA, or nursing student).
Required Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPCT or enrolled in healthcare career program; age 18+ and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training.
Certifications: BLS required within one month of hire; PCT competencies within 3 months.
Preferred Certifications: CNA, EMT, AUA in state of practice, CPCT.
Physical requirements: ability to push/pull/lift 50 pounds; prolonged standing and walking; ability to reach, bend, kneel, twist, squat.

Responsibilities

Assist in individualized patient care under RN or LPN.
Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
Work cooperatively as part of the Medical Telemetry team.
