Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Short Stay unit. This part-time night shift (7 PM–7 AM) includes two 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends.

The role involves patient care, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, IV removal, and specimen collection under RN supervision. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant certification such as CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School, with BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related program or current RN/LPN/RT/PT student eligible.
• One year health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient status.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and patient safety.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, and specimen collection.

**Overview:**# **Sentara Norfolk General Hospital** is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Short Stay unit. This is a Part-Time, Night Shift (12-hour shift) position. **Hours:** 7PM to 7AM - Two12-hour shifts (24 hours/week), with rotating weekends. The **Patient Care Technician** provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
