Job summary

UPMC in Pittsburgh is seeking a Patient Care Technician Senior (PCT Senior) for a Monday-Friday schedule with 4x10-hour shifts, no nights, weekends, or holidays, in the perioperative team supporting the Inpatient Pre-Operative Holding Area and PACU.

You will transport patients, apply telemetry, monitor glucose, stock supplies, assist nurses, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality care and a smooth surgical experience.

About the Role

This position will primarily support our Inpatient Pre-Operative Holding Area, with cross-training opportunities in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide additional support as needed. As a valued member of the perioperative team, you'll play a critical role in preparing patients for surgery and ensuring a smooth care experience.

Key responsibilities include:

What You'll Do

As a Patient Care Technician Senior, you'll provide compassionate bedside care while utilizing advanced technical skills, including:

• Vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, Foley care, and intake/output monitoring
• Assisting patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and repositioning
• Telemetry monitoring and application
• Patient transportation, including monitored patients
• Performing advanced competencies based on department needs, such as:
  • 12-Lead EKGs
  • Phlebotomy
  • Bladder scans
  • Foley catheter removal
  • IV catheter removal
  • Point-of-care testing
  • Basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Other specialized patient care skills
