Job summary

Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY seeks a Nurse Assistant to perform and deliver patient care activities and related non-professional services for assigned hospital patients as directed by registered professional nurses or licensed practical nurses.

Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulating; responding to call lights; maintaining infection control; and transporting patients as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School graduate or equivalency.
• License: BLS within 30 days of hire.
• Experience: Nursing home or acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily physical and emotional care to patients; i.e. bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulating, etc.
• Answers call lights in timely fashion
• Assists licensed personnel as directed.
• Accuracy in obtaining vitals (vs., ht, wt, i/o) and other procedures as per competency.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment, infection control.
• Recognizes when to seek help from licensed personnel.
• Transports patients as needed.
• Provides input to the interdisciplinary health care team.
• Acts as a preceptor to new Nurse Assistants and orientee Nurse Assistants.
• Demonstrates use of proper body mechanics.
• Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.
• Follows all time and attendance policies.
• Attends educational programs related to job responsibilities.

• Acts as a preceptor to all new Nurse Assistants and orientee Nurse Assistants.
• Demonstrates use of appropriate body mechanics.
• Displays analytical and basic problem solving skills. Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.
• Follows all time and attendance policies.
• Attends educational programs provided by the Hospital or those which are outside the Hospital that are related to job responsibilities.
