Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, IL is seeking a patient care technician to join our team in a full-time role. You will support nursing staff, perform basic patient care tasks, and help maintain a safe, clean environment in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications include High School diploma or GED, BLS/CPR, and caregiving experience. The role offers a 36-hour work week with rotating weekends/holidays and a possible $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• BLS/CPR certification required or to be obtained as part of role.
• Experience in patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows isolation guidelines and safety regulations.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under RN direction.
• Documents and reports all procedures per department policy.
• Obtains nursing history and reports abnormalities to the RN.

Job Description:

• Schedule: 36 hours/week: 6:45am - 7:15pm, w/rotating weekends and holidays


• Up to a $5,000 sign on bonus for eligible applicants

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.


• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.


• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.


• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.


• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.


• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.


• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.


• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.


• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.


• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.


• Assists in identifying patient needs

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]


• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required]OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
