Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, IL is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the night shift. The role supports bedside care under the direction of a registered nurse, delivering treatments, monitoring patients, and ensuring a safe, clean environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS/CNA/CPCT-A/EMT certifications; 1+ year PCT or related bedside care preferred. Competitive pay and a $3,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ year PCT experience preferred.
• Previous bedside patient care in acute care or related roles preferred.
• BLS, CNA, CPCT/A or EMT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, uses protective equipment, performs handwashing, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in delivering patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures per department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the RN.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Other duties as assigned.

• Schedule: 36 hours/week; Nights 6:45pm - 7:15am, w/rotating weekends and holidays

• Up to a $3,000 sign on bonus for Eligible Applicants

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR
• Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A)[Required] OR
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
