Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Bolingbrook, Illinois is seeking a patient care technician / nursing assistant for night shifts. The role involves assisting in patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, maintaining a safe environment, and documenting procedures.

A high school diploma and CPR/BLS are required, with preferred CNA or PCT experience. Pay ranges from $17.33 to $27.73 per hour, with benefits from day one and eligibility for a sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

• 1+ applicable PCT experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments and patient care according to policy and procedure.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Documents procedures and reports per department policy.
• Assists in nursing history collection and reports abnormalities to RN.
• Receives directions from a registered nurse and participates in patient care as a team member.

Job Description:

• Schedule: Full Time, Nights 7:00pm - 7:30am, w/rotating weekends and holidays
• Up to a $5,000 sign on bonus for Eligible Applicants

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required]OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
