Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for 12-hour night shifts. Under supervision, you will assist with patient care, support clinical and non-clinical tasks, and participate in Mercy's UAP ladder toward PCA or CNA roles.

A 175-hour training may be provided for new hires, with BLS due within 1 month and competencies within 3 months. Qualifications include HS diploma/ GED, CNA/CPCT or enrollment in a healthcare program, and 18+ age.

Qualifications

• Experience: None required. If no prior experience, candidate may be considered for PCA with 175-hour Mercy training.
• Preferred experience: EMT, Paramedic or prior patient care experience (PCA, CNA, student nurse).
• Required education: High school diploma or GED, CNA/CPCT or in healthcare program, or current Mercy coworker.
• Certifications: BLS within one month of hire; PCT competencies within 3 months.

Patient Care Technician-PCT*

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Rehabilitation (ARU)

Status: Full-Time, 36 hours/week

Shift: 12 Hour Nights (6:30p - 7:00a)

Qualifications

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role in which Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (i.e. PCA, CNA, or active nursing student).
• Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements:
• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
