Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff.
• Observe patients’ progress and prepare reports for Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and perform housekeeping duties.
• Measure and record patients' intake and output, assist with range of motion exercises, and draw blood.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support certification
• Competency in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and cross-competent to cover multiple hospital services, roles, or functions).

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic certification or current enrollment in nursing school
• Minimum of two years of experience in acute or long-term care preferred
• Proficiency in phlebotomy preferred
