The University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, MD is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Night Shift on a full-time basis. This role supports patient care as part of a growing, state-of-the-art hospital opening.

The team works closely with UMMS to provide expanded care pathways and exceptional patient service.

Qualifications

• CNA certification required for the role.
• Maryland CNA certification in good standing is required.
• BLS-HCP certification is required or preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assists in patient care with routine, non-professional nursing tasks.
• Takes patients’ vital signs and observes/communicates changes in condition.
• Follows CNA guidelines and uses basic nursing skills under supervision.

Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George’s County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (UM Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. In addition, our new space will allow us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George’s County residents.

Position Summary

Assists in the care of patients by providing routine, non-professional nursing care utilizing advanced medical and surgical skills typically beyond the Nursing Assistant level. Takes patients' vital signs, observes and communicates changes in patient conditions. Requires CNA certification.

Work Experience

• Equivalent to a High School diploma or GED
• Maryland certification in good standing as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Alternative training: Completion of first clinical year of NLN-approved nursing program, graduate of an approved RN or LPN program, or EMT-B or Armed Forces Corpsman.
• Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology
