Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a part-time Night Shift Patient Care Technician for the Burn Trauma unit. The role includes 24 hours per week on 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, ADL support, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection, IV removal, and sterile technique under RN supervision. Requires HS diploma and relevant certs or experience; BLS within 90 days.

Qualificações

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) and one of the listed certifications or equivalent experience.
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program with RN/LPN/RT/PT progress or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs, mobility, and patient condition.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, and specimen collection.
• Remove peripheral IVs and Foley catheters as directed.
• Ensure patient safety and report changes to the RN or medical staff.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a Part Time, Night Shift (12-hour shift) position.

Hours:

7:00pm to 7:00am - Two 12-hour shifts (24 hours per week), with rotating weekends.

Department Overview:

Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds forstepdown/intermediatelevel of care. The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn/Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU.There are also 17 beds for medical/surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves).

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)andone of the following is required:

• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or

• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or

• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or

• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or

• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, or

• Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or

• Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Physical Therapist (PT) program, or

• Current work experience within the last three years as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant.

Certifications/Licensure:

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• One year of health care experience (Preferred).
