PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.

Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with FMCNA policies, procedures, training, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting quality improvement activities to meet FMCNA's quality goals.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
  • Drive the FMS culture through values and customer service standards.
  • Provide outstanding service to all customers.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships.
  • Respond promptly to customer service issues.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
PATIENT CARE:
  • Assist in patient education regarding dialysis adequacy measures and disease process.
  • Welcome patients, monitor well-being, and report concerns.
  • Evaluate vascular access and obtain vital signs.
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and report difficulties.
  • Administer Heparin as permitted by law.
  • Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment, report issues, and document care.
  • Discontinue treatment following protocols, evaluate patient status, and document.
  • Perform and record treatment parameters and patient responses.
  • Maintain vascular access and laboratory specimen collection.
MAINTENANCE/TECHNICAL:
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and prepare equipment.
  • Perform machine safety checks and alarm testing.
  • Ensure proper disinfection and supply management.
CLERICAL & ADMINISTRATIVE:
  • Participate in CQI activities and document treatment data accurately.
  • Prepare and review charts and lab specimens.
OTHER:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL FOR HOME PROGRAM TECHNICIANS:
  • Assist RN with home visits, education, and supply management.
  • Set up and maintain home dialysis equipment and assist with patient care at home.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK CONDITIONS:

Includes lifting, prolonged standing, travel, and exposure to infectious materials. Must pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test; accommodations available if needed.

EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D., with required certification and licensure.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Preferred hospital or related healthcare experience.
  • Successful completion of dialysis training and CPR certification required.
