Purpose and Scope:

Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Related Education: Assist healthcare team in providing patient-specific education regarding adequacy measures and disease process/access.

Treatment: Welcome patients, evaluate vascular access, obtain vital signs, initiate and monitor dialysis, document treatment, and respond to patient needs and issues during treatment.

Staff Related: Assist in training direct care staff under supervision of a nurse.

Infection Control: Support infection control practices, participate in audits, and educate patients and families.

Transitional Care Unit: Support new patients through their initial dialysis weeks, reinforce education, and coordinate care and supplies.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires physical ability to perform tasks including lifting, standing, and bending; work environment is a healthcare setting with exposure to infectious materials.

Education and Licenses:

High School diploma or G.E.D., state and/or national certification, and appropriate licensure required.

Experience and Skills:

Preference for previous patient care experience; successful completion of dialysis training and CPR certification required.

Additional Information:

Hourly rate: $17.00 - $27.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and parental leave. No prior dialysis experience needed; paid training provided.
