Job summary

Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA, is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medicine Unit on a third shift (nights). This unlicensed role works under the supervision of a professional nurse to deliver delegated care tasks and support daily patient needs.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and be eligible through Sentara's CNA, NCMA, NCPCT or equivalent programs, with experience in basic patient care activities such as ADLs, vital signs, and mobility assistance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) or National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT).
• Current student in a clinical program with RN/LPN/RT/PT or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nurses with delegated nursing tasks.
• Provide patient care on the Medicine Unit, supporting basic needs.
• Maintain patient safety and report changes to the nurse.

Job Description

The Patient Care Technician is an unlicensed staff member who is accountable to and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care.

Requirements

One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
