Baystate Wing Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Med/Surg unit in Palmer, MA. The role involves direct patient care, hygiene, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with phlebotomy and EKGs. Multi-skill capability is required to support on-unit duties and procedures under RN supervision.
Candidates should have a PCT/CNA pathway, BLS CPR, and a high school diploma or GED. Weekend and holiday coverage may be required, with a focus on safety and teamwork throughout shifts.

Daily activities are coordinated by the Registered Nurse (RN). The PCT will perform a variety of technical tasks and bedside functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to Direct Patient care; hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring. Will have multi-skills for what is needed on the unit, to perform all duties relative to phlebotomy and EKGs. The PCT is expected to manage equipment and perform or assist in all procedures on the unit. The incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
Baystate Wing Hospital is a 74-bed community hospital in Palmer, Massachusetts, fully accredited by the Joint Commission and designated a Primary Stroke Service hospital by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Baystate Wing’s 46-bed Medical Surgical unit includes telemetry and intermediate care and provides care for the emergency department’s overflow. Nurses are cross trained to provide coverage in telemetry, IMC and the ED for this reason, making this a great opportunity for a new nurse looking to gain experience in multiple specialties.
