Job summary

Boone Health is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under nursing supervision at Boone Hospital Center. You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, documentation, and patient education to support a safe, healing environment.

This 40-hour week day-shift role involves participating in safety and quality initiatives and may include 1:1 patient safety sitter duties as needed. A CNA certification and ongoing nursing program involvement are required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a nursing education program and complete fundamentals of nursing within 90 days.
• Has or previously failed state licensure exams in the past 3 years
• Certified as a nursing assistant
• Has current registration as a CNA in another state per 42 CFR 483.151/152
• Experience as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician in past 3 years
• Complete a patient care technician or UAP training in last 3 years
• Nursing program completed outside the United States awaiting licensure in this country
• Proof of certification as patient care technician

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care.
• Administers ADLs, performs vital signs, I&O, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, foley care, phlebotomy or point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and reports changes to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment for patient needs.
• Promotes safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development and acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the RN which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition.

Job Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), performs vital signs (VS), intake and output (I&O), fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, foley care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient’s needs.
• Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development and lifelong learning, as well as acting as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Boone Health has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
• The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
• Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Experience

• Is enrolled in a professional or practical nursing education program and has or will complete within ninety (90) days a fundamentals of nursing course
• Was a professional nursing or practical nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years
• Is certified as a nursing assistant
• Has documentation of current registration as a certified nursing assistant in another state that meets the requirements listed in 42 CFR 483.151 and 483.152
• Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician in the past three (3) years
• Has proof of completion of a patient care technician training program which meets the curriculum requirements of this rule or UAP training program in Missouri or another state which meets the requirements of this rule within the last three (3) years
• Has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country
• Has proof of certification as a patient care technician
