Boone Health seeks a patient care technician to provide direct patient care under RN supervision, supporting safety and comfort for a patient team.

The role includes assisting with ADLs, vital signs, I&O, education, and documentation, with emphasis on safety and lifelong learning. Work shifts include days in a hospital setting with a 36-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a nursing education program and completes fundamentals of nursing within 90 days.
• Former nursing licensure candidate who did not pass state exams in the last 3 years.
• Certified Nursing Assistant with current registration.
• Documentation of CNA registration in another state per 42 CFR requirements.
• Experience as nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician in the last 3 years.
• Completion of a patient care technician training program or UAP training within last 3 years.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision, supporting safe, family-centered care.
• Assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, I&O, falls and pressure ulcer prevention, Foley care, phlebotomy, or point-of-care testing.
• Collect clinical data and report changes to the nurse.
• Assist with patient and family education.
• Document all patient care activities.
• Ensure supplies and equipment meet patient needs.
• Support safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development and may act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as needed.
• Perform other assigned responsibilities.

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the RN which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition.

Job Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), performs vital signs (VS), intake and output (I&O), fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, foley care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development and lifelong learning, as well as acting as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Is enrolled in a professional or practical nursing education program and has or will complete within ninety (90) days a fundamentals of nursing course
• Was a professional nursing or practical nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years
• Is certified as a nursing assistant
• Has documentation of current registration as a certified nursing assistant in another state that meets the requirements listed in 42 CFR 483.151 and 483.152
• Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician in the past three (3) years
• Has proof of completion of a patient care technician training program which meets the curriculum requirements of this rule or UAP training program in Missouri or another state which meets the requirements of this rule within the last three (3) years
• Has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country
• Has proof of certification as a patient care technician
