Job description

Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a Medical Center Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

• Assists patients with personal care as needed to promote recovery during hospitalization.

• Performs basic nursing skills delegated by an RN, in accordance with policy and procedure to support patient health and wellness.

• Ensures a safe environment and safe delivery of care.

• Performs administrative support functions.

• Maintains necessary skills and competencies.

• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Compensation Range: $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Experience: No experience required
• Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.

Must be certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in Virginia or meet one of the following criteria:

• Successful completion of the UVa PCT Education Program or another approved PCT Education Program.
• Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) experience in a similar PCT role, with successful completion of a written exam and clinical skills demonstration during a 6-month probationary period.
• Passage of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam (e.g., National Healthcareer Association - C-PCT). Present certification as verification.

OR meet one of the following criteria:

• Currently enrolled student nurses who have completed Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic coursework.
• EMT or above certification; candidate will complete the UVA PCT Course within a 6-month probationary period.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail; ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs and over 100 lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
