Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the delivery of patient care in a hospital setting. You will work under a Registered Nurse and assist with basic tasks that do not require licensed judgment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of PCT course within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports ongoing delivery of care as identified by the multi-disciplinary Patient Management Team.
• Works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs tasks not requiring licensed practitioner judgment.
• Assists patients and visitors with information and issues.
• Notifies staff of problems requiring prompt intervention.
• Obtains patient reports and communicates changes to nursing staff.
• Documents patient care activities including vital signs and ADLs.
• Provides grooming and oral hygiene assistance.
• Monitors and maintains supply levels.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examinations.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Transports patients as directed.
• Serves as a resource for department members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Performs tasks and duties that do not require a licensed practitioner, professional judgment or intervention
• Assists patients and visitors with information and issues
• Notifies appropriate staff members of problems requiring prompt intervention
• Obtains patient report and communicates with nursing staff regarding patient care and changes in condition
• Informs nurses of patient requests or complaints
• Documents patient care activities and tasks, including vital signs, activities of daily life, wave tests, and input and output
• Provides grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, and assistance with activities
• Monitors and maintains supply levels inside and outside of rooms
• Prepares treatment rooms for examinations
• Assists with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
• Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed
• Serves as a resource person supporting department members
• Performs other duties as assigned
