Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in La Grange, IL is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician to assist in delivering patient care under RN supervision. You will perform bedside tasks, ensure safety, and support a team-focused environment with emphasis on compassionate care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS, CNA or equivalent certification, and prior bedside care preferred. The role supports performance improvement and quality standards within a community-focused

Qualifications

• BLS CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

• Schedule: 24 hours/week; Days 6:45am - 7:15pm, w/rotating weekends and holidays

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.


• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.


• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.


• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.


• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.


• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.


• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.


• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.


• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.


• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.


• Assists in identifying patient needs


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]


• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required] OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
