Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Bolingbrook, IL seeks a Patient Care Technician to support bedside care in an acute settings unit. You will assist with daily patient care, collaborate with the healthcare team, and help maintain safety and comfort for patients and families.

Required is a High School diploma or equivalent, and certifications such as BLS, CNA/CPCT/NCPCT/PCT-C/EMT. Weekend rotation and 7a-7p shifts are common with day shift coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1+ year PCT experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Various CNA/CPCT/NCPCT/PCT-C/EMT credentials required.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatments and patient care per policy and procedure, appropriate to age and acuity.
• Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies.
• Support quality standards and performance improvement initiatives.
• Follow isolation guidelines and safety regulations.
• Assist in delivering patient care as a team member under RN supervision.
• Document procedures per department policy.
• Obtain nursing history and report abnormalities to the RN.
• Identify patient needs and assist accordingly.

Job Description

Days 7a-7p, Every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays required

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs

Work Experience

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
