Overview:

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Medical Telemetry Unit.

Hours/Shift: 36-hours per week, day shift

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. They provide patient care, support admissions and discharges, and ensure patient safety by observing patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reporting changes to the nurse.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Acceptable education programs include: Sentara Care Partner Certification, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), or current clinical student in RN, LPN, RT, or PT program, or recent experience as a PCT or Nursing Assistant within last three years.

Certifications/Licensure:

• AHA BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• One year of healthcare experience preferred.

Department/Position Overview: 3 North is a Medical Telemetry Unit on the third floor of SAMC with 24 beds, treating patients needing telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and treatment for conditions like low-risk chest pain, COPD, pneumonia, and congestive heart failure.
