Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare seeks a Patient Care Technician to support the RN in delivering safe, efficient and high-quality care. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, document observations and communicate needs to the nursing team.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of recent hospital or clinical experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a current BLS. A California Nurse Assistant certification is preferred; compensation is hourly and commensurate with

Qualifications

• Six months of experience within the last three years in a hospital, clinic or SNF/Home Health setting as a nurse assistant, care partner, medical assistant or student nurse with one clinical semester.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Current California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient call signals, intercom, or bells to determine needs.
• Provide daily living assistance: bed mobility, bathing, dressing, toileting, walking or exercising.
• Review dietary restrictions and preferences to ensure appropriate meals.
• Record intake and output; report changes to medical or nursing staff.
• Record vital signs as directed by staff.
• Gather information from caregivers, nurses, or physicians about patient condition and plans.
• Observe patients for symptoms requiring medical attention and report observations.
• Document observations and patient concerns to nurses.
• Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
• Align with hospital mission, values, and rounding practices.
