Edward Elmhurst Health in Arlington Heights, IL, is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Medical-Surgical Unit on nights. The role is full-time, 7:00pm–7:30am, with every-other weekend and a 36-hour workweek.

Orientation in the week of start, and basic bedside support under RN/LPN supervision are key duties. Responsibilities include vital signs, charting, patient mobility, and basic treatments using the EMR system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent completion required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA course and CNA exam, EMT or paramedics training, or current enrollment in a nursing program with a major clinical rotation.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Enter treatments and charges to manage patient healthcare records.
• Assist care team in coordinating patient activities and services.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, and daily activities under RN/LPN supervision.
• Record vital signs and input/output; perform select procedures as directed.
• Assist with admitting, discharging, transporting, and observing patients; answer unit phones.

## Patient Care Technician - Medical Surg Unit - NightsApply: NCH 800 W Central Rd Arlington Heights: Full time: Posted Today: R47524**Hourly Pay Range:**$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.**Position Highlights:** * Position: Patient Care Technician - 3ES Medical Surg Unit* Location: Arlington Heights, IL* Full Time: 36 hours per week* Must be able to attend a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Orientation from about 8:00am-4:30pm on the week of starting.* Hours: 7:00pm -7:30am (Nights), Every other weekend* Required Travel: No **What you will do:** * Enters specific patient Treatments, charges to facilitate management of the patient healthcare record* Assists the care team in coordinating patient activities and services* Assists in coordinating communication and resources between care team, physicians, patients and family members.* Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc. under the supervision of a RN/LPN.* Assists with exercising and ambulating patient; utilizes correct body mechanics while assisting with patient mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort of patient under supervision of a RN/LPN.* Obtains patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the nurse. As directed by RN/LPN performs procedures such as EKG’s, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc. Collects specimens such as urine, feces, sputum, and delivers as necessary. Documents basic patient care into electronic medical record.* Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety as directed. Adequately answers unit phones and can effectively direct phone calls to the appropriate parties.
