SUMMARYThe Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Mays Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) supports our patients recovering from anesthesia by assisting with direct patient care, maintaining a clean and prepared environment, and ensuring efficient patient flow and safety. The PCT plays a vital role in supporting surgical teams and contributing to excellent patient outcomes.
IDEAL CANDIDATEThe ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant (NA) experience in a clinical or hospital setting and must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AccountabilityEfficiently completes assigned responsibilities and seeks additional tasks when available.
Supports workflow by contributing to on-time starts and rapid turnover of cases.
Maintains composure and effective performance under pressure and in crisis situations.
Demonstrates responsible use of equipment and supplies; avoids unnecessary waste.
Completes annual self-appraisal with required documentation.
Prepares and maintains the surgical and post-anesthesia environment for patient safety and care.
Provides direct care based on established standards, ensuring patients' comfort and well-being.
Assists in room turnovers and OR clean-up between and after cases.
Transports patients and manages supplies with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Actively engages in learning and professional growth.
Seeks feedback to improve performance and sets high standards.
Demonstrates reliability and motivation to support team goals.
