Job description

As a member of the Patient Care Team, you will ensure that patients and their families are attended to in a caring and attentive manner, responding to their needs promptly while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.

Job Profile Summary

This role involves providing professional and non-professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. It includes performing nursing support duties such as providing basic care services to patients without holding an RN or LPN license. Positions in this role work under the supervision of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and registered nurses depending on the unit. This role is most applicable to patient care and scientific/laboratory jobs, requiring basic knowledge of procedures and tools gained through vocational education and work experience. The role involves working under moderate supervision, solving routine problems, and occasionally interpreting procedures.

Hours: 32 Hours a week / Evenings / 3pm-11pm / EOW
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  3. One (1) year experience in healthcare or nursing services
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent
  2. Three (3) years experience in healthcare or nursing services
  3. Successful completion of courses in EKG and Phlebotomy
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with examinations, procedures, tests, and treatments as trained, including using glucometers, obtaining vital signs, urinalysis, blood glucose, microalbumin, and A1C, and taking vital signs and weights.
  2. Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), maintaining privacy and safety, preparing for meals, assisting with feeding, responding to call lights, and aiding in ambulation and transfers.
  3. Provide hygienic care, including linen distribution, bed making, changing linens, briefs, bedpans, urinals, catheters, and administering cleansing enemas.
  4. Apply principles of prevention to maintain skin integrity and skeletal-muscular alignment, including changing simple dry sterile dressings.
  5. Assist ostomy patients with pouching and skin care.
  6. Prepare and administer hot and cold applications such as sitz baths, soaks, and packs.
  7. Apply supportive devices like slings, ace bandages, elastic stockings, and binders when appropriate.
  8. Obtain, document, and reconcile allergy and medication lists.
  9. Collect, prepare, and transport specimens to off-site laboratories, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation, and update lab results in EMR.
