Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Magnet-designated Nursing team on the M19: Surgical Special Suites unit. You will support inpatient nursing staff and help ensure patient and family comfort and safety.

This role involves taking vital signs, performing EKGs, collecting specimens, assisting with procedures, and contributing to accurate clinical documentation using Epic EMR.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years healthcare experience in NA, PCT, EMT, Medical Tech, Phlebotomist, or LPN.
  • If less than 2 years experience: Nursing Assistant or healthcare-related cert obtained within past 12 months AND >=1 year of healthcare experience in listed roles.
  • BLS certification required by time of hire; Epic EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients under supervision of a Clinical Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Handle patient care situations with integrity, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Take vital signs, perform EKGs, and collect specimens.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team and assist with procedures as needed.
  • Support clinical documentation with basic computer/data entry.

Exciting Opportunity at MSK:

We are seeking a Patient Care Technician to become part of our team of dedicated professionals! As a member of our Magnet-designated Nursing team, you will provide support to the inpatient nursing staff while helping ensure the comfort and safety of our patients and their family members.

M19: Surgical Special Suites

18-bed inpatient oncology surgical unit specializing in gynecological surgery , plastic surgery , and Ophthalmology Radiation & Amenities Program services. The unit cares for high-profile patients, often referred to as a " amenities " unit. Care on this unit encompasses Breast Plastic reconstructive surgery, and general medical-surgical oncology populations car ing for all patients and no special rations for the amenities program . The environment is fast paced , requiring strong multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.

Role Overview:
  • Work under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse and assist patients in a timely and efficient manner
  • Handle patient care situations with a high level of integrity, compassion, and professionalism
  • Responsible for taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and collecting specimens
  • Collaborate with the clinical team and provide assistance with procedures as needed
  • Use basic computer and data entry skills to support clinical documentation
Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of healthcare-related experience in one or more of the following roles: Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Technician, Phlebotomist, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • OR
  • If less than 2 years of experience: A Nursing Assistant or other healthcare-related certification obtained within the past 12 months, AND At least 1 year of healthcare-related experience in one of the roles listed above
  • BLS certification required by time of hire
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

Location: 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY

Schedule: Nights Three 12-hour shifts 7pm-7:30am; Monday through Friday, rotating weekends and holidays
