Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Float Pool Unit in Dallas. You will support nursing staff by performing validated patient care tasks and assisting across multiple inpatient units as needed.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, English communication skills, and BLS; CPI within 180 days. Preferred: 2 years acute care experience or CNA/CMA certification. This is an on-site role with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; English reading/writing and basic medical terminology.
• BLS certification current or within 180 days of hire; CPI within 180 days.
• 2 years of acute care inpatient hospital experience preferred, or CNA/CMA certificate, or first semester of nursing clinicals.

Responsibilities

• Collect data: intake/output, vitals, and report abnormalities to the nurse.
• Notify nurse of patient condition changes to ensure safe, high-quality care.
• Assist patients with requests in a respectful, timely manner; verify patient needs before leaving the room.
• Provide basic hygiene care and monitor skin during baths; report concerns.
• Conduct frequent rounds to assist with comfort, positioning, and hygiene needs.
