Summary of Job Duties:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the supervision of Registered Nurse(s), performing tasks that do not require a license or professional judgment. The PCT must pass required competencies and work within Nursing standards.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED and successful completion of a patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics, and accountability.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs to waist height.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
  • Patient care experience in an acute care setting.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
  • Obtain patient report and communicate with R.N. regarding patient care and changes in condition.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Transport patients as directed.
  • Carry out the Plan of Care using a Multidisciplinary Approach.
  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Follow directions from R.N.s and team members.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Assist patients and visitors with information and problem-solving.
  • Support department members in their duties.
  • Notify staff of problems requiring intervention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
