Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our nursing team and assist Registered Nurses with hands-on patient care. You will help with vital signs, mobility and personal care, contributing to a safe, welcoming environment and helping translate care plans into daily actions.

The role emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and reliability as you support caregivers, patients, and families while maintaining cleanliness and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with patient preparation, mobility, transfers and comfort to support smooth care and recovery.
• Providing non-medicated care such as dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
• Keeping patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency.
• Managing supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
• Communicating kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
