The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The PCT II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Minimum Training and Education: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT or Paramedic certification, Bachelor’s Degree or enrollment in a healthcare related program with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course at an accredited institution or equivalent training preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking continuously; climbing stairs infrequently; working indoors continuously and outside in temperature extremes infrequently; working from elevated areas frequently; working in confined/cramped spaces frequently; kneeling infrequently; bending and twisting at the waist frequently; squatting frequently; performing pinching operations frequently; gross motor activities with fingers and hands continuously; firm grasping continuously; fine manipulation continuously; reaching overhead frequently; repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders continuously; fully using both legs continuously; using lower extremities for balance and coordination frequently; reaching in all directions continuously; lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted infrequently; lifting/lowering objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted infrequently; lifting from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. infrequently; exerting up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close and at a distance, match or discriminate colors, determine distance/relationship between objects, good peripheral vision, maintain hearing acuity with correction, perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime as required, work in a latex safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions, and for selected positions maintain good olfactory sensory function and be qualified physically for respirator use.
