GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role involves providing direct patient care and assisting with non-direct unit coordination. The incumbent performs basic nursing procedures for stable patients, supports RN in caring for acutely ill patients, practices medical asepsis, respects patient privacy, and adheres to hospital policies. Responsibilities include maintaining the patient environment, accurate documentation, and managing activities related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. Supervision varies between general oversight by the RN and direct supervision for complex patients.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides direct patient care such as vital signs, specimen collection, EKG testing, and dressing changes; transports patients and documents care (50%)
  • Participates in quality initiatives and unit activities like supply management and safety protocols (20%)
  • Documents all patient interactions accurately and reports changes to nursing staff (15%)
  • Supports unit functions including supply stocking and equipment cleaning (15%)
  • Performs additional duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High School/GED
  • Experience as PCA, PCT, NA, LPN, EMT, or military medical roles; or enrolled in nursing program (halfway or junior year)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and straight catheterization
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association)
  • Clearances: Act 34, 33, and 73
