Job summary

Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for ICU on the night shift. The role involves three 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, under the supervision of a professional nurse.

You will provide patient care, assist with admissions/discharges, and ensure patient safety by monitoring conditions and reporting changes. Qualifications include a HS Diploma and one of several certs (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps, etc.), with ICU experience

Qualifications

• Must have a HS Diploma and one of the listed certifications.
• PCT staff work under the supervision of a nurse to implement delegated nursing care.
• One year ICU experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.

Patient Care Tech - ICU - FT Night Shift

Three 12-hour shifts including rotating weekends and holidays

Overview

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Education

Certification/Licensure

Must have a HS Diploma and one of the following:

• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)
• Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Experience

1 year of ICU Experience (Strongly Preferred)

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
