Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a dedicated aide to provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care in a hospital setting. The role supports nurses in routine tasks, collects data, assists with hygiene, feeding, mobility, and safety, and maintains a clean, safe environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, or related program, or equivalent direct patient care experience. BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or completion of one of the listed patient-care programs.
• Ability to obtain venipuncture specimens and perform basic data collection.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.
• Experience in direct patient care is acceptable alternative to formal programs.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents vital signs, height/weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquires 12 lead EKG.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities, hygiene, feeding, mobility, and safety as per plan of care.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidential information.
• Maintains clean, safe environment and infection control measures.
• Assists with requests for other hospital services.
