Job summary

UTMB Health at Estelle Unit in Huntsville, TX is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician I to deliver basic patient care within a correctional environment. You will assist with daily activities, collect vital signs, and support patient safety under nursing supervision.

Responsibilities include hygiene support, feeding assistance, mobility help, and maintaining a clean environment with proper infection control practices. A qualifying training program or direct care experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of one of the following technical programs: Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Corpsman, EMT, UTMB Hospital Aide training, or two years of direct patient care experience; if enrolled in nursing school, must have completed the first clinical semester and health assessment concepts.
• Current BLS-HP certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry and specimens.
• Perform and report POCT (point-of-care testing).
• Assist with patient activities and care as directed by charge nurse and patient plan of care.
• Provide for patients’ personal hygiene and feeding; assist with mobility and safety.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information and records.
• Ensure a clean, safe environment and proper infection control measures.

EMT program

UTMB Hospital Aide training program

Two years of direct patient care experience

Currently enrolled in School of Nursing with first semester completed
