GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role involves providing direct patient care and assisting with non-direct unit coordination. The incumbent performs basic nursing procedures for patients in stable condition and supports RN in caring for acutely ill patients. Responsibilities include practicing medical asepsis, respecting patient dignity and privacy, maintaining objectivity, adhering to hospital policies, responding to emergencies, and ensuring a clean environment. The role requires effective communication and documentation in the electronic medical record. The incumbent works under RN supervision, receiving specific assignments from Charge Nurse or Care Team Leader, and demonstrates efficient time management. Additional duties involve coordinating activities related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide and document direct patient care activities such as vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, and assistance with treatments (30%).
2. Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including bedside shift reports, safety protocols, and maintaining a clean environment (30%).
3. Accurately document all patient data and report changes or concerns to nursing staff (20%).
4. Assist with unit activities like supply stocking and equipment cleaning (20%).
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to attend 2 weeks of training with limited or no experience
• Ability to read, write, follow instructions, perform basic math, and use a computer
• CPR certification (American Heart Association)
• Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 background clearances

Preferred

• Recent acute care experience within last 3 years
• Enrollment in ASN or BSN program, preferably with clinical rotation completed
