Patient Care Technician I, 4SE, Full Time, SVH

Join us as a Patient Care Technician I, 4SE, Full Time, SVH at Allegheny Health Network.

Overview

This role involves providing direct patient care and assisting with non-direct unit coordination. The incumbent performs basic nursing procedures for patients in stable condition, supports RN in caring for acutely ill patients, practices medical asepsis, respects patient dignity and privacy, and maintains objectivity. Responsibilities include adhering to hospital policies, responding to emergencies, maintaining the patient environment, documenting care in electronic records, and managing activities like admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide and document direct patient care activities including vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, and more. (30%)
  2. Participate in quality and satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift reports and safety protocols. (30%)
  3. Accurately document all patient care activities and report changes to nursing staff. (20%)
  4. Assist with unit activities like supply stocking and equipment cleaning. (20%)
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Limited or no experience; able to attend 2 weeks of training
  • Ability to read, write, follow instructions, perform basic math, and use computers
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association)
  • Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 background clearances
Preferred
  • Recent acute care experience within 3 years
  • Enrolled in ASN or BSN program, with clinical rotation completed
