Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide multi-skilled support under RN supervision in a patient-centered care model. The role includes 3 rotating 12-hour shifts per week and a standard 36-hour work week.

Minimum education includes a High School Diploma or equivalent; advancement to PCT II requires additional qualifications such as an associate/bachelor’s degree, healthcare experience, nursing school enrollment, or CNA/CMA certification along

Qualifications

• Patient Care Technician I requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• PCT II requires HS diploma/GED and one of: Associate or Bachelor's degree, 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS, 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility, active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals, active enrollment in a healthcare related field, or CNA/CMA certification.
• Basic Life Support within 2 weeks of hire and maintenance thereafter (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED).

Responsibilities

• Assist under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide multi-skilled patient care.
• Support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care and desired outcomes.
• Perform job functions with attention to safety and standards of care.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Associate or Bachelor's degree

1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS

1 year of experience in a healthcare facility

Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals

Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution

Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification
