Job summary

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with feeding, hygiene, EKGs, transferring patients, coordinating tests, and responding to call lights. A high school diploma and current BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Must have critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivering patient care: obtain vitals, assist feeding, hygiene care, finger-stick glucose readings, skin care, EKGs, and patient transfers.
• Perform routine procedures including surgical skin preps and enemas.
• Schedule procedures and coordinate orders with physicians, nurses, and other departments.
• Answer call lights promptly and notify staff of patient needs.
• Support unit goals for patient satisfaction through service excellence.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and take appropriate action.
• Collect data and report information to improve quality issues.
• Obtain patient information and maintain confidentiality.
• Enter charges for procedures and supplies as applicable.
• Report problems to the appropriate person and assist in resolution.
• Be flexible, adaptable, team-oriented, and able to work in a stressful environment.
• Communicate professionally with patients and guests; project a positive image of the Medical Center.
• Perform vital signs, height, weight, and visual acuity in triage.
• Assist with sterile field setup for suturing and procedures.
• May perform other patient care activities as directed by the RN.
