Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The role supports the RN in caring for patients in stable condition and helps with admissions, discharges, and transfers on the inpatient unit.

You will practice medical asepsis, protect patient privacy, document care in the EMR, and respond to emergencies under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within the last 3 years; ASN/BSN program enrollment with at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, I&O, meals, etc.).
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Documents vitals, weights, I&O, and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Assists with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning/retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
