Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist the RN in caring for stable and acutely ill patients. The role emphasizes medical asepsis, patient dignity, and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

The incumbent works under RN supervision and reports to the Charge Nurse or Care Team Leader. Training is provided; duties include admissions, discharges, transfers, and coordinating inpatient unit activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years; currently enrolled in ASN/BSN with at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide, obtain or perform and document direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vital signs, glucose testing, etc.).
• Support quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding, hand hygiene, isolation protocols).
• Document vitals, weights, I/O, restraints and treatments; report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
