Springfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician on a full-time, part-time, or PRN basis in Springfield, IL. The role supports the nursing team by providing direct care, assisting with activities of daily living, and documenting patient status under RN supervision.

Qualified candidates may hold a CNA or be enrolled in nursing school with clinicals completed; CPR certification is required or obtained during onboarding. Night and day shifts are available with full benefits.

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) required or enrollment in nursing school with one semester of clinicals completed.
• CPR certification required or obtained during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care aligned with patient safety and comfort standards.
• Assist with ambulation, nutrition, hygiene and toileting support.
• Document interventions, observations and patient responses accurately.
• Prepare patients for cardiac monitoring and procedures as directed.

Under supervision of the registered nurse, performs a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort for patients; provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served; reports and records observations; contributes to the efficient functioning of the unit; all duties are performed in accordance with established, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Required Experience

• Full time (FT) or Part Time (PT)
• Night shift, 6:45pm – 7:15am
• Day shift 6:45am-7:15pm
• Every third weekend required for Full Time
• Possibility to request your own 3 days per week

• PRN / Per Diem schedule available (on call any day of the week or sign up for shifts as you can)

Education, Licensures & Certifications

• One of the following is required:
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
  • Enrollment in nursing school with one (1) semester of clinicals completed
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in a nursing assistant role
• CPR certification required or obtained during onboarding

Experience

• Experience in acute care preferred
• Strong observational skills and ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition

What You’ll Do

• Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, feeding and toileting needs with care and dignity
• Monitor and document vital signs, blood glucose levels, intake/output and patient observations
• Support cardiac care protocols by preparing patients for tests, procedures and treatments
• Respond promptly to patient call lights, ensuring comfort and safety
• Collaborate with nurses and providers to maintain a clean, organized and efficient unit
