Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in La Grange, Illinois, seeks a PRN/As needed patient care technician to cover day shifts (11am–11:30pm) with rotating weekends/holidays. You will perform treatments under policy, assist the RN, document procedures, and maintain a safe environment.

Required are a CNA or equivalent certification, BLS CPR, and High School diploma; preferred is 1+ PCT experience and bedside care in acute settings. Competitive pay and equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school grad or equivalent required.
• 1+ applicable PCT experience preferred.
• Bedside patient care in acute care or related roles preferred.
• BLS CPR certification required.
• CNA or equivalent patient care technician certification required.
• Ability to meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and supports quality standards.
• Follows isolation guidelines and PPE usage.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in delivery of patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures per department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.

• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.


• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.


• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.


• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.


• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.

Education:

Work Experience:

• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required] OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
