Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals New England. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.
North 8, Women’s Health, is a 27 bed surgical unit serving the unique needs of women. We primarily care for patients recovering from gynecological, uro-gynocology, and gyn/onc procedures as well as plastic surgery and abdominal procedures. In addition, we care for stable obstetrical patients such as high risk antepartum, and postpartum women whose newborns are in the NICU. During surges in the hospital-wide census, we also admit a small percentage of female medical patients on North 8. We offer the opportunity for the nurse to learn such skills as electronic fetal monitoring, advanced breastfeeding support, and a wide variety of pre- and post-operative interventions
