Job description

The Patient Care Technician works with the RN in providing effective care and treatment of the individual. Must be proficient in maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment. Performs nursing assistance as directed by the RN. Must observe and report unusual behavior and intervene with verbal and physical interventions as required within the guidelines of PMAB, to prevent injuries; and interact with individuals to promote resolution of crisis.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Observe and document the health and behavioral status of individuals and record changes
  • Take and record vital signs
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Implement planned patient care programs
  • Prepare and distribute materials for therapeutic activities
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Establish and maintain successful working relations
  • Exercise appropriate safety measures for self and individuals
  • Validate current client Medication Administration Record (MAR) according to physician orders prior to administration of medications
  • Administer medications as ordered (within Texas-regulated CMA guidelines for scope of practice) by a physician and report unusual symptoms and reactions to RN immediately
  • Monitor medication stock and report needs to RN promptly

Experience and Training

  • High school diploma or GED required; one year of related work experience preferred
  • Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of individual care principles and customer service practices
  • Skill in operating therapeutic equipment and computer software
  • Ability to plan, assess, and communicate effectively
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must maintain good health to perform job duties
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Hours: 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am

Salary:

  • Patient Care Technician DC: $33,280 annually / $16.00 hourly
  • Patient Care Technician DC /CNA: $35,360 annually / $17.00 hourly
  • Patient Care Technician DC /CMA (Medical): $35,360 annually / $17.00 hourly
  • Patient Care Technician DC /EMT: $35,360 annually / $17.00 hourly
  • Patient Care Technician DC /AEMT: $37,440 annually / $18.00 hourly
  • Patient Care Technician DC /CMA (Medication): $37,440 annually / $18.00 hourly
  • Patient Care Technician DC /LVN: $37,440 annually / $18.00 hourly

Positions: 326, 332-Pending
