Job summary

Sentara Health in Woodbridge, VA is seeking a Patient Care Tech to work third shift on nights. You will assist licensed nurses with delegated care, support admissions and discharges, and monitor patients under supervision.

This role requires a HS diploma and one of several recognized certifications (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, or Navy Hospital Corps School). Relevant PCT experience or student in a clinical program is valued. Competitive compensation and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma is required with one of the listed certifications.
• Certification in CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent is required or in progress.
• Experience as a PCT or Nursing Assistant within the last three years is preferred.
• Current student in a clinical program with at least one semester completed acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.
• Observe patient conditions and report changes to the nurse.
• Comply with patient safety practices during care.

Patient Care Tech

Three 12-hour shifts including rotating weekends and holidays.

Overview

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Education and Certification

• Must have a HS Diploma and one of the following:
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)
• Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
