Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

Shifts: Rotating

The Patient Care Technician, CNA performs routine and specialized tasks in providing direct patient care under the functional direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the patient with changing/dressing.
  2. Transport the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair (this is a large part of the job).
  3. Identify abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, including abnormal vital signs, Accucheck results, lab, EKG, and CXR results.
  4. Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff.
  5. Escort patients to holding rooms.
  6. Assist with patient changing, and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, contact lenses, etc.
  7. Verify patient information.
  8. Orient patients and families to the environment.
  9. Obtain vital signs.
Qualifications:
  1. Current Maryland CNA license with Maryland Board of Nursing.
  2. BLS certification for CPR - AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.
  3. Work requires six months of previous experience as a PCT, patient aide or Certified Nursing Assistant/ Geriatric Nursing Assistant.

Salary Range: Minimum $18.63 per hour - Maximum $28.88 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
